Friar launches ultra-marathon training ‘vlog’

Journey with Fr Bruno Clifton as he prepares once more to tackle a 110-km run over tough terrain.

He’s back – and this time he’s determined to succeed!

Last year Fr Bruno, after a mere (!) 56 kms / 35 miles, was forced by injury to retire from the Ultimate Trails Ultra-Marathon, a hellish 110 km (68 miles) run through the Lake District. The course is so long that runners begin in the middle of the night, in the hope of completing before sun-down the following day!

It’s for a good cause…

He won’t be doing all this for fun, mind you! Once again he’s trying to raise funds to pay for training the next generation of Dominican friars. (You can sponsor him here…).

Our fundraising campaign has now got roughly as far as Fr Bruno did in his 2015 Ultra-Marathon, i.e. a little over half way. We need all the help we can get to nail that target, and ensure that new recruits to the Friars get the training they need for a lifetime of service.

What’s a Vlog?!

This year you can accompany Fr Bruno through his training by means of his ‘vlog’ or video log that he’s recording at regular intervals and posting online.

Fr Bruno is offering insights into the inner strengths needed to tackle a great personal challenge like the Ultra – and being a scripture expert, we are sure he’ll drop some suitable Bible verses into the mix along the way…

You can follow his YouTube channel, or our Facebook page, in order to catch his latest video posts.
